Services

The prime service is to provide support, comfort, hope, respite, understanding and example for any person who has received a diagnosis of a life-threatening illness such as cancer, motor neurone disease, MS, etc. and for those (including children) who are bereaved.

Services are provided by a group of trained volunteer carers who are in turn supervised and supported by a part time Co-ordinator and a full time Community Outreach Worker.

  • Mutual Support Meetings ( Illness, Carer and Bereavement support )
  • Home and hospital visits for all who need us from the time of diagnosis
  • Emotional support for patients and their families
  • "Seasons for Growth" for adults
  • Grief and Loss Support for adults and children.
  • Volunteer Training Program
  • Guest Speaking

We will do our best to reach anyone who needs us within a reasonable distance of Newcastle.

Activities

Make Today Count functions, mainly, in four areas.

  • Home visiting and family support
  • Mutual support group meetings for illness, carers and bereavement.
  • Grief and loss support for adults and children.
  • Support for families with seriously ill and/or disabled children.

Monthly committee meetings review the operation of the organisation.

The base for all Make Today Count services is the drop-in centre at:
44 Dudley Road, Charlestown NSW 2290.
The centre is open Monday and Thursday - 9am to 1pm
Tuesday and Friday - 9am to 5pm
